Christmas cake icing, glazed cherries, dried strawberries and candied strawberries. Full-bodied, rich and powerful, but with enough firm-tannin expression to give form and beauty. Drink from 2022.

Pale-medium garnet with some brick tints. Dried tobacco, cedar and some herb, with balsamic and old leather. Salty tang to balsamic, dried tobacco and spice, but the tannins are still pretty chunky and angular. Not sure this will come together before it dries out, unfortunately. (TJ)
The 2012 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a little more subdued and undertone in terms of its aromatic intensity (compared to the more exuberant 2011 vintage before it). No matter, you still get tons of Nebbiolo personality nonetheless. The tannins are a little edgy, but this wine should sail though the next decade without a wrinkle.
La Morra. Only mid ruby with orange tinges. A little sweaty and locked on the nose. Finely balanced palate, but its main component is dried fruit. A little too ready for this cru. (WS)
