The Giacomo Fenocchio 2012 Barolo Bussia is a spicy and perfumed wine that shows the heat of the vintage. You can feel the fruit ripeness, especially on the bouquet. Spice, leather and tobacco are followed by pressed flower, dried cherry and licorice. The wine delivers lots of clove, black pepper and spice on the finish.

Light bricky red. Perfumed and quite delicate aroma – tangy red fruit and a biscuity sweetness. Seductive fruit, lots of spice and a fine, long drawn-out finish. Super-fine texture. Very moreish. (JH)
The 2012 Barolo Bussia packs a serious punch. Bold, racy and intense, the 2012 hits the palate with notable intensity. The aromatics are a bit unfocused, while the tannins are also disjointed. The 2012 may still need time to fully come together. Today, the Bussia comes across as heavy and clunky. I am not sure how much time in bottle will ameliorate things.
Monforte d’Alba. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Ripe strawberry with balsamic notes on the nose. Hint of floor polish. Intense palate with a sense of lightness. Waves of fine tannins. (WS)
