Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2017-2024, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2017

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Girardin's 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes du Dessus has an intense nose of lime and citrus fruit, perhaps not quite as complex or as terroir-driven as the Meursault Charmes from Coche-Bizouard. The palate is lively on the entry with a light smear of wild honey, segueing into a delicately spiced and quite concentrated finish. It will require another couple of years in bottle although I caution that it did seem to become more advanced and lose some of its luster in the glass with aeration.

Pale, bright yellow. Subtle aromas of orchard fruits and hazelnut. Lovely silky, intense flavors of peach, orange blossom and spices are at once plush and brisk, showing lovely concentration and purity of fruit. Not hugely complex or backward but chewy and persistent, delivering captivating spicy sweetness to its orchard fruit flavors. This Meursault should offer reasonably early appeal.

Full yellow with a green tinge. Classic Charmes aromas of ripe peach and nectarine, hazelnut and pain grillé , with a touch of positive reduction. Fleshy, concentrated and sweet, with yellow fruit flavors lifted by minerals and brown spices. Finishes tactile, robust and long, with a slightly tannic impression and a suggestion of bitter almond. Plenty of dry extract here.
