Note di degustazione
Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Chartron's 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Cailleret had a very broody, slightly disjointed nose. The oak feels as if it is singing from a different hymn sheet than the fruit. The palate is quite malic and terse on the entry; sharp Granny Smith apples and a dash of spice, quite linear in style. It does not quite deliver the complexity I was hoping for on the bitter finish, yet there is sufficient nervosité locked into this wine to keep me coming back.

The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet En Cailleret 1er Cru has an engaging, complex nose that opens in the glass. Crushed stone infuses the walnut and almond aromas. The palate is well-balanced with pretty lemon thyme and lemongrass notes. This is elegant in style, still fresh and lively, with a persistent finish. The 2014 is well worth hunting down.
