Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2017-2035, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2016

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a very refined bouquet with subtle floral, mineral scents infusing the citrus fruit. This is so refined. The palate is well balanced with very well integrated oak, plenty of mineralité here, great tension, basically a class act that is going to only improve with continued bottle age. This delivers. Tasted May 2016.

Pale yellow. Ripe but reserved aromas of pear, fresh herbs and hazelnut. Plush, ripe, sexy and sweet, but with cooler, vintage-typical notes of menthol and eucalyptus. As dense and youthful as this is, it's still less tight and taut than the 2014. Finishes dry, very fresh and closed, with strong citrus fruit and mineral character. This wine fermented more slowly than the 2014, noted Alexandre Bachelet. It should evolve at a leisurely pace.

A bit more intense and rich than the rest of this producer’s wines. Embryonic and not too fat. Great undertow. I have confidence in the future of it! (JR)

(tasted at the end of its malo; 13% alcohol): Pale green-yellow color. Ripe aromas of apple, pineapple and clove, plus a youthful whiff of banana. Sweet, powerful and densely packed but not at all heavy. The wine's creamy texture is nicely supported by a firm, integrated spine of acidity and strong underlying minerality. Finishes horizontal and long, with a touch of phenolic character accenting the wine's grip. This too will need time in bottle to gain in complexity. The Bachelet brothers are now vinifying entirely with wild yeasts.
