Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2019-2025, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2015

(as with the following 2013s, this wine was bottled in April of this year without fining or filtration): Bright, light yellow. Subdued aromas of pear and crushed herbs. Densely packed and fine-grained but a bit compressed following the recent bottling. Brisk acidity carries the wet-stone finish.

The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Baudines has a more resinous, waxy bouquet compared to the Champ Gain, with touches of apple peel and fresh pear coming through later. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, vibrant citric fruit and a dash of lemongrass lending spice to the finish that just misses a little persistence at the moment.

Quite like Chenevottes but 50 m higher and a bit more clayey. Ripens about a week later than Chenevottes. 'The Morgeot of altitude – power and finesse.' Very pale. New level of density after having tasted his lesser wines. Very concentrated with some floral elements and less obvious acidity than some. Long. (JR)

Bright, pale yellow. Aromas of underripe pineapple, crushed stone and white flowers are quite riesling-like. Densely packed and sweet, showing soil-driven pineapple, pear and stone flavors that will need further elevage to reveal more personality, not to mention some time in bottle. The majority of this wine is aging in a conical wood cuve that holds the equivalent of five barriques' worth of juice; about 20% of the malolactic fermentation was blocked.
