Pale greenish straw. Very cool and bright on the nose with some evolution. Crystalline and full of pzazz and appeal. Bone dry and lemony. Very appetising and beginning to drink well. Impressive length. (JR)

Pale yellow. Ripe aromas of yellow peach, truffle and earth are less pure than those of the village wine. Fat and ripe in the mouth, with peach and earth flavors carrying through to a slightly dry finish. Today I marginally prefer the more harmonious village offering.
1.5 ha on white stones with very poor soils. Broad, nutty and friendly. Some sweetness and real gentle flattering appeal. Exciting finish. (JR)
The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet Les Champs Gain 1er Cru, from 4 parcels, has a stone rather than fruit-driven bouquet at the moment: well defined with chalky/flinty notes emerging in the glass. It is crisp on the entry, quite spicy and vibrant with racy acidity. It seems to calm down toward the second half and return to that mineral component that lingers nicely on the finish. Fine.
