Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2022-2030, Neal Martin, Oct 2023

The 2013 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru predates the acquisition of the vineyard; hence it is not "Domaine". With strong green tints in the glass, it has a light lime and peach scented bouquet that doesn't really get hold of the terroir with both hands. Likewise, the palate is attractive and slips down the throat with ease, yet it cannot fully capture the DNA of the vineyard, which it has been more adept at doing in recent years.

(from two sources, one at the top of the cru and the other in the middle, next to Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes): Pale, bright yellow. Aromas of lemon, white peach and flowers complemented by spicy, vanillin oak. Sweet on entry, then youthfully disjointed in the middle, with strong acidity giving the wine an early tartness. There's also sweetness and salinity here but this rather austere wine is fighting itself today.

The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru les Charmes has the lightest color of Jadot's three premier cru from the appellation. The nose is a little muffled at the moment and does not quite take off from the glass. The palate is smooth and rounded on the entry, a rich les Charmes with honeyed, brioche notes but missing some tension and delineation toward the finish.

Good fruit density on the nose. Really marked acidity on the front palate. All the ingredients for fine old bones. (JR)
