Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2017-2022, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2015

(20% new oak; made from multiple parcels, combined in the press, with two-thirds of the fruit coming from the Puligny side of the appellation): Slightly high-toned aromas of peach and spicy oak. Intense peach fruit shows good intensity and sweetness, with nicely ripe acidity for the year. Finishes firm and persistent, with a slight phenolic edge. The crop level was normal here, in the range of 50 to 55 hectoliters per hectare, according to Moreau, who told me he likes the notion of an assemblage as he believes it gives an accurate impression of a village.

Pure, fresh citrus and pear fruit. Nice chewy texture and succulently fresh finish. Lovely purity and persistence. (JH)

The 2013 Chassagne Montrachet had been fined the previous week and was just about to be bottled. Raised in 20-25% new oak, this, the largest cuvee of the domaine at 30% of production, undergoes a longer barrel aging than the Saint Aubin En Remilly. It has a delightful bouquet: clean and pure with apricot and light fig scents infusing the citrus fruit. The palate offers commendable weight in the mouth, and as usual, the acidity here is very finely judged and lends the finish impressive tension. It might not have the complexity of Moreau's impressive premier cru, however, there is style and panache about this Chassagne Village, which comes highly recommended.
