Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes has quite an opulent bouquet, very "Charmes" in style you could say, with ample white peach, apricot and nectarine scents on the nose. Quite lavish but not over the top. The palate is well balanced with orange zest and mandarin on the entry, not quite as complex as I anticipated after the aromatics though there is fine delineation on the finish. Tasted May 2016.

A little more expressive than the Narvaux on the nose. A touch smoky but just nicely so. Rich, ripe and concentrated, as if it had had some water removed… Powerfully impressive for those who like richness and depth rather than delicacy. Very persistent. (JH)
