Pelissero's 2011 Barbaresco Tulin impresses for its crystalline purity. Bright veins of chalky salinity support the fruit in a drop-dead gorgeous, vibrant Barbaresco built on energy and nuance. An exotic finish laced with hints of tangerine peel, rose petal, anise and spices rounds things out beautifully. This is one of the most polished, graceful wines I have ever tasted from Giorgio Pelissero.

The 2011 Barbaresco Tulin is a light and streamlined expression with moderate intensity and a thin, silky feel in the mouth. The heat of the 2011 vintage has shaped a wine with medium depth compensated by one-dimensional tones of cherry, blackberry and balsam herb. Drink: 2015-2022. (from east-facing rocky soil): Good bright medium red. Pungent exotic flowers, sexy earth tones and chocolate add sex appeal to the aromas of blackberry and violet. Juicy and nicely delineated, with a distinctly saline character to its licorice and dark berry flavors. Finishes quite youthfully closed, with a serious dusting of tannins and a light touch. Here, more acidity equals more obvious minerality.
