Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2018-2025, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2015

Very pale, bright yellow. Tight aromas of pear, white peach, stone, menthol and caraway seed. Juicy, sappy and concentrated, showing moderate flesh but an intriguing saline character. Finishes firm, suave, dry and long, with good thrust and an impression of solid dry extract. Gained in pliancy and roundness with time in the glass. This wine is much more impressive in its finished form than it was from barrel a year ago.

Creamy, dusty citrus. Somewhat dilute on the mid palate but the creamy texture and crisp acidity are just about in harmony. Shortish. (JH)

(tasted from a new barrel that had finished its malo): Bright lemon-yellow color. Lovely spicy lift to the aromas of lemon drop and ginger. Fat and dusty, with a suggestion of exotic fruits and a salty element. Less precise than the other 2013 crus I tasted at Faiveley and a bit phenolic on the finish. Bernard Hervet noted that these vines were picked "at the turn in the weather" and that this was the only wine clarified with bentonite before the fermentation, a technique used more commonly years ago to ensure more precision and purity in white wines.
