The 2011 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin is constantly changing in the glass. At times light on its feet, while in other moments much more powerful, the 2011 is a wine of contrasts. This is another ample, intensely structured Barbaresco from Paitin full of personality and the breadth that is typical of this part of Neive, where the wines are often quite broad. Sweet red cherries, tobacco, incense and earthiness are some of the many aromas and flavors add complexity over time. The 2011 spent 24 months in new casks. Far from an easygoing 2011, the Sorì Paitin is going to need time in bottle, the only question is how much.

Sweet roses, mint, spices, plums and red cherries wrap around the palate in the 2011 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin. A round, layered, beautifully expressive wine, the 2011 captures all the best qualities of the year. Firm yet silky tannins caress the fruit in a generous, voluptuous Barbaresco loaded with class. Here, too, the Pasquero brothers have done a fabulous job. The combination of fruit and structure is compelling.
