Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2016-2038, Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com, Jul 2013

Beautiful maturing ruby with orange rim. Meaty and malty and only slowly releasing fruit aromas (100% new oak). Starts to develop tertiary character, but the palate is still so youthful with crunchy, succulent red fruit and great, muscular tannic grip on the finish. Still young but difficult to resist. (WS)

The 2004 Barolo Via Nuova comes across as slightly fresher than the Cannubi. It too offers outstanding definition and clarity, with vibrant, perfumed fruit and a slightly compact personality that makes the tannins stand out a little bit more than the Cannubi. Still, this is another lovely effort from the energetic Chiara Boschis.

Medium red. Musky red berries, smoke and game on the nose; comes across as cleaner than the Cannubi. Sweet, lush and ripe, with very good acidity giving it vinosity and grip. The finish here also seems more pristine, although the substantial firm tannins of this structured, vibrant wine will require patience. Both of these Barolos are aged in all new barriques
