2011 Puligny Montrachet Les Referts

The 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts is deep and intensely colored, but lacks the sensuality of the best wines here. Sage, rosemary, mint, nectarine and peach nuances emerge over time, but the overall impression remains one of greenness. This was the second-to-last parcel Carillon harvested in 2011, but the fruit does not feel fully ripe. The Referts is a bit of an outlier in this range, so I would not be surprised if a less than perfect bottle is the issue. I will report back as soon as I have had a chance to taste the Referts again.
