Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2017-2028, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Sep 2016

The 2010 Barolo delivers a steady performance with a long line of aromas that includes wild berry, dried cherry, wet earth, button mushroom, pressed rose and chestnut honey. There is a good level of complexity here, although the wine opts for a simplistic approach overall. The aromas are exhibited with monotone intensity and show slow, easy transitions. Fresh acidity adds a good sense of lift on the close.

The 2010 Barolo is weightless, lifted and quite pretty. Freshly cut flowers, mint, crushed rocks, red berries and licorice are all laced together in a super-expressive, feminine Barolo from Prunotto. The 2010 can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring, but it also has enough energy and underlying structure to develop nicely in bottle for a handful of years.

Pale ruby with orange tinges. Quite closed, balsamic and almost ethereal nose. Tea leaves, cherry. Compact and not nearly open on the palate. Very light of touch and fresh. No huge concentration, but pretty, elegant wine with lots of tannins. (WS)

(Prunotto's entry-level Barolo includes a lot of purchased fruit): Fresher medium red color than the 2009. Red fruits, underbrush and porcini on the nose. Supple and medium-bodied, showing livelier fruit and more definition and stuffing than the 2009 Barbaresco normale, but could still use a bit more thrust. Finishes with broad tannins, very good precision and attractive floral persistence.
