Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2016-2030, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2014

The 2010 Barolo Bricco Gattera shows a dark, masculine side with savory tones of bresaola cured with juniper or fragrant pipe tobacco. Its aromatic evolution is also steady and complex: With just a few swirls of the glass, the bouquet reveals beautiful tones of pressed violets, forest floor, toasted hazelnut and white truffle. The 2010 vintage shows an especially fine and elegant quality of fruit. Drink: 2016-2030. La Morra. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Quite a lot of new oak that gets a little in the way of the fruit. Ripe and succulent cherry and strawberry fruit on the palate. Modernist approach, but the sheer class of the vintage is evident. Fine, grainy tannins. (WS)

Dark red cherry, plum, mocha, spices and new leather are some of the many notes that take shape in the 2010 Barolo Bricco Gattera. Fleshy and voluptuous on the palate, the 2010 boasts superb depth, intensity and persistence. Today, it is the wine's suave texture and polish that leave the most lasting impression. There is a lot to look forward to here.

(from the best plot of Monfalletto; 100% michet): Good medium-deep red. Redcurrant, black cherry, cola and sweet soft spices on the nose. Then densely packed and tight on the palate, offering a compelling blend of energy and tension on the one hand and seamless sweetness on the other. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and suggestions of dark fruits. Very promising. This estate eschews long aging in oak, usually keeping their Barolos in wood for just 19 to 22 months.
