Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2005-2012, Jancis Robinson MW, Jul 2005

Much more nerve and excitement on the nose than the Corton-Charlemagne. Weight, opulence and (relative) excitement – though not truly, truly thrilling. This certainly has weight – and 14% alcohol like the Corton-Charlemagne. There’s a certain tension in the undercurrent. Remarkably open though for a grand cru of less than two years old. Tingle of life but arguably middle-aged before its time. (JR)

Rich wafts of honeyed minerals emanate from the glass of the medium-bodied 2003 Batard-Montrachet (white). Oily-textured and thick, it coats the palate with caramelized minerals, baked pears, and spices. A fruity, straightforward wine, it is a candidate for drinking over the next 6 years. Maison Louis Latour has numerous importers across the United States.
