Note di degustazione
The 1995 Pontet Canet is another wine that I have not tasted for a number of years, this from magnum. The nose lacks the freshness of the Pichon Baron tasted alongside, coming across as high-toned with a little VA. The palate is better, with a sweet, slightly candied entry, bright cassis and blueberry and a fine, cohesive finish. This is drinking perfectly now and the aromatics do improve in the glass. Tasted at the 1995 Bordeaux off-line at Piccolino in London.

Blackish with some notes of purple still! Intense nose. Round and gamey without quite the freshness of some 1995s and 1996s tasted alongside. Different! Tannins no longer in the way. I think this needs drinking. (JR)
Boissenot consulted then. 37% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. Mid to light crimson. Light gravelly nose. Sweet start, then quite dusty tannins but an interesting wine with a real fruity core and structure. Round and satisfying. (JR)
