A good, solid, slightly rustic 1975 with a well-developed toasty, cedary, caramel-and-tobacco-scented bouquet, Pontet-Canet lacks the tremendous grip and size of the best 1975 Pauillacs, but has good fruit, and a firm, long, alcoholic finish. The best Pontet-Canet of the seventies? Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 4/90.
