Mineral, austere. very dry and taut. Still chewy. This one's for masochists at the moment. (JR)

Aromatically demure, the soft, silky-textured 2002 Puligny-Montrachet Referts is light to medium-bodied, supple, and appealing. While it lacks the depth and concentration of the Perrieres, it boasts an impressively fruity pear and apple-flavored character. Drink it over the next 8 years. This is bigger, richer and more exotic than the Champ Gains with dense, sappy, intense and precise flavors that are generous and palate staining and while there is more size and weight here, it lacks the same detail and finishing intensity. Still, this is a very fine effort that will certainly deliver a fine drinking experience with a few years of cellar time. Allen Meadows, Burghound Jul01,2004

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
