Note di degustazione
Barbaresco. Ruby with brickstone. Seems reductive at first. Cherry and hints of dried fruit. Palate is generously fruity with tarry notes, integrated acidity and crunchy, tannic finish. (WS)

Made from old vines and aged in a cask, the 2001 Barbaresco Sorì Loreto is the more austere of the two single-vineyard wines.
Rocca’s 2001 Barbaresco Sori Loreto displays a dark ruby color and a gorgeous, complex, balsamic nose of spices, tobacco, leather, and menthol. This dense and chewy Barbaresco reveals layers of ripe red fruit and licorice flavors with outstanding substance on the palate in a masculine, authoritative style. Made from old vines and aged in a cask, Sori Loreto is the more austere of the two single-vineyard wines. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016. (aged in botti) Good bright full red. Superripe aromas of plum liqueur, raspberry, redcurrant, leather and beefsteak tomato. Fat, sweet and pliant, with lovely texture and palate coverage. At once full and suave. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins and excellent breadth and length. No shortage of lift here. This gracefully carries its 14.8% alcohol (the '00 version was virtually 15%).
