Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2014-2028, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2014

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Folatières 2011 from Vincent Girardin has a generous and outgoing, but rather straightforward, bouquet with tangerine and apricot blossom scents that are well defined, but do not exactly engage the cerebral membrane. The palate is better than the nose suggests with a fine line of acidity, crisp citrus fruit with touches of dried apricot and quince that dovetail into a poised finish. Give this 3 or 4 years for the aromatics to awaken.

Bright yellow. Ripe peach, apricot and an exotic jasmine note on the nose. Very rich and sweet but light on its feet thanks to strong floral lift and chewy minerality. The tactile, saline, vibrant finish stimulates the salivary glands. Superb potential here, but this wine will need time in bottle for its sweetness and acidity to harmonize.

An elegant and admirably pure nose features notes of citrus, green apple and acacia blossom aromas. There is excellent concentration to the intensely mineral-driven flavors that possess so much dry extract that there is a borderline chewy character to the energetic and remarkably persistent finish that really fans out in the mouth. This is potentially an excellent Folatières that should reward up to a decade of cellaring. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2019+
