Punteggio 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2013

Bright yellow. Discreet nose hints at pear and white pepper. Shows less body and depth than the top 2011 premier crus here today, but then this is in a classic higher-altitude, more minerally style. Juicy white peach and citrus flavors are further enlivened by peppery acidity. The slowly building, peppery, slightly hard-edged finish shows very good subtle length. This wine displayed more obvious salty minerality and building density after 24 hours in the recorked bottle.

Chamomile, wild flowers and spices all add complexity and nuance in the 2011 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée. There is good depth and complexity in this delicate, understated Burgundy.

Broad and big and solid. Good fruit covers the structure. Chalky finish. Racy. (JR)

This is the first wine to display noticeable SO2 and it's enough to dominate the nose at present. There is impressive richness to the broad-shouldered yet refined and elegant medium-bodied flavors that brim with plenty of palate coating dry extract. Despite the succulence of the mid-palate there is excellent delineation on the citrus-infused, intense and moderately dry finish. Like the Caillerets this is not quite as complex as I believe that it will be with time in bottle so it would be best to allow this at least 5 years of bottle age first. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2018+
