Minerals marked by touches of zesty lemons make up the aromatics of the 2003 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignieres (white). Rich, satin-textured, and light to medium-bodied, this wine displays lilies, honeyed minerals, and roasted apples in its lush personality. A slight note of tightening in the finish prevented a higher score. Projected maturity: now-2010. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524
Pure aromas of peach, butter and minerals. Sweet and lush, with rich fruit supported more by the wine's mineral underpinning than by its rather soft acids. Quite full and long: a very promising start to this tasting. Like a number of these 2003s, this finished quite dry, with under a gram of sugar.

Domaine Jean-François Coche-Dury is one of the most sought-after names in Burgundy, famed for producing some of the most expensive white wines in the world. The demand for these fiercely collected wines far outstrips supply.
