White peach, yellow flowers, honey and wet stone on the nuanced nose, lifted by treble notes of ginger and lavender. This also conveys a distinctly sweet impression, offering strong yellow fruit and spice flavors. Finishes persistent and spicy, with very good grip. These two 2008s came as a bit of a shock following the drier 2009s here. Michel Coutoux noted that this wine may still have had a bit of malic acidity at the time of the bottling and thus was filtered more strictly.

Good light yellow. Cooler aromas and flavors of lemon, lime and powdered stone, plus a whiff of apple suggesting that there's still a bit of unconverted malic acidity remaining. Then sweet and strong in the mouth, with a juicy quality and enticing inner-mouth perfume. Not a thick style but more concentrated and longer than the foregoing premier crus. Excellent potential here. (The Chevalier-Montrachet, about 80% through its malo, showed lovely sweetness of fruit, serious concentration and very nicely integrated acidity, but the Batard was much less advanced.)
