La Morra. Too oaky and sweet for me. Where is the Nebbiolo purity? (JR)

La Morra. Very deep ruby, small orange-tinged rim. Dark, brooding nose with tobacco notes. Sweet and ripe and perhaps a tad stewed? (WS)
The 2006 Barolo Case Nere is a hulking wine packed with dark cherries, spices and French oak. It is the most imposing and backwardly tannic of these 2006s. While the concentration is impressive, ultimately the Case Nere is missing some of the delineation that make's Boglietti's finest wines so compelling.

Enzo Boglietti crafts rich, sumptuous Barolos from his holdings in La Morra, and more recently, Serralunga. Importer: New France Wine Co., St. Paul, MN; tel. (651) 698-2533
