(aged in 20-hectoliter casks) Very good saturated deep red. Sexy, slightly decadent aromas of raspberry, dried flowers, game and mocha. Sweet on entry, then a bit unyielding in the middle, with firm acidity giving this a rather austere aspect. This classic Serralunga Barolo combines sweetness with spine, and its big tannins call for a good six or seven years of patience.

In 2005 his wines reveal a lovely purity to their fruit but because of their relatively modest structures, the wines seem to be dominated by an excessive amount of French oak.
