Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2006-2012, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2006

The 1997 Carobric, also tasted from magnum, presents a more evolved set of flavors including tobacco, earthiness and over-ripe, cooked fruit. Though it shows excellent length it is the wine that most clearly reflects the adverse conditions of the hot vintage in its wilted, somewhat tired quality.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2002-2016, Robert Parker, Jun 2001

A new offering, the 1997 Barolo Caro Bric is an elegant, stylish example. It reveals a tell-tale saturated garnet color with amber at the edge, in addition to intense aromas of coffee, smoke, kirsch, herbs, leather, and fruitcake. Full-bodied, with expansive, saturated layers of fruit, and abundant stuffing as well as richness. It is an exceptional Barolo to enjoy between 2002-2016. High-toned aromas of carob, mint and oak, plus a liqueur-like red berry quality. Ripe-verging-on-overripe, with almost exotically sweet fruit flavors and a strong oakiness. Reminded me of a ripe-year Chateauneuf du Pape. Finishes with substantial, somewhat tough tannins.
