The 1996 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes offers a refined, crystalline nose of minerals, salt, and rocks. This awesomely precise, focused, and elegant wine has extraordinary minerality and length. It is medium-bodied, gorgeously ripe, vibrant, and reveals boisterous layers of candied lemons and pears. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2010. Importer: Frederick Wildman & Sons, New York, NY; tel. Slightly more yellow color. Strong floral aroma along with spice and butter notes. Wonderful sweetness in the mouth, with the floral character repeating. Tactile and extremely long on the aftertaste. This still has malic acidity, but it so ripe and sweet I never would have guessed it.
