2005 Puligny Montrachet Les Combettes

This is also reserved but it's easy to discern a higher level of ripeness on the floral and elegant white fruit aromas that also characterize the rich, full and generous flavors that have that beautiful sense of underlying tension and the mineral-infused finish is much tighter than the mid-palate impression would suggest. I like the cuts-like-a-knife delineation of the backend and this will age well over the medium term. In a word, beautiful.

(still a bit of sugar to be fermented) Very ripe aromas of peach, nectarine and spice. Sweet, fat and fresh; less minerally than the Perrieres but fatter and nuttier today. In fact, I would have picked this broad, rich wine as a Meursault. With its creamy texture, this conveys an impression of lower acidity, but there's no shortage of freshness here. Finishes with very good persistence.
