Subtly complex aromas of peach, minerals and hazelnut. Then powerful and precise in the mouth, with terrific density of texture cut by strong acidity. A strong nut oil character contributes to the impression of dry extract. I get less of an impression of alcohol here than with the Referts. Finishes with a note of marzipan, and terrific lift, grip and length. Boudot ranks this among the best vintages for Combettes, along with the 2005 and 1992.

A very fresh, bright and highly layered nose of mostly yellow fruits that possess subtle fennel and rose petal notes that are picked up by the broad-scaled, textured and dense flavors that explode onto the palate staining finish that seems to go on and on without end. This is beautifully balanced and has everything it needs for a very long life. As an aside, this may very well be the best Sauzet Combettes Boudot has ever made, surpassing even the stunning '99.
Very ripe aromas of hazelnut, almond and dried fruits show a bit less lift than the Champ-Canet. Flavors of ripe apricot, mirabelle and white flowers display obvious sweetness but are nicely framed by ripe, slightly edgy acidity. Finishes with good length and a repeating element of dried fruits. This comes across as a bit less minerally and harmonious today than the Champ-Canet.
