Tight nose, sophisticated and well-spoken on the palate, with great connection between dusty tannins and core fruit. Modest development, will age very well. High acid. (RH)

Barolo. Dark ruby. Dried fruit and orange sorbet opening. Violets. Very sweet, almost jammy. Lots of concentration, but perhaps lacking in tension. (WS)
This would be my 'African' Barolo with distinctly Moroccan perfumes of harissa, accents of tamarind and sun-ripened naartjie (a South African citrus fruit similar to, but sweeter and juicier than, a clementine). Caraway certainly and the scent of roses in late-summer dusk. Chocolatey sweetness and real richness on the palate, although slower, more seductive, less quick-silver vibrancy than the Via Nuova. The 2006 Barolo Cannubi shows the warmth of this south-facing site in its open, generous bouquet. The Cannubi reveals more opulence and roundness than the firmer Via Nuova in an expansive, generous expression of dark red fruit that covers the palate from start to finish. Sweet spices and flowers add complexity on the long, round close. This is another drop-dead gorgeous Barolo from Chiara Boschis.
