Note di degustazione
80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Batailley make reliably good wines year in and year out and 2012 is no exception. This is fully ripe with plump blackberry fruit on the nose, medium body and supple tannins. Good concentration and very clean. Exactly as it should be. FINE+RARE

The 2012 Batailley has plenty of fruit on the nose: blackberry, raspberry, a touch of shoe leather and sage. The palate is medium-bodied with a slight bitterness on the entry, nicely balanced though, cedar and tobacco infusing the black fruit with a touch more fruit on the finish compared to Haut-Batailley. It just needs more time in bottle. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.
Tasted blind. Transparent ruby – looks quite evolved. Savoury nose. Very sweet start. Bit of a hole in the middle. (JR)
71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot. Serious, complex, mature bordeaux nose where the ripe fruit melds into meat juice, dark chocolate, black cherry and Asian spice. The tannin is absolutely ready to drink now, and it has a soft, easy finish. (RH)
Informazioni sul produttore

It was on the site of Batailley in 1453 that one of the final battles (or “batailles”) of the Hundred Years’ War took place. Today owned by the Castéja family, the Fifth Growth is renowned for producing wine that is the epitome of classic Claret.
