Honey, melon, white flowers and spices flesh out in the 2011 Alteni di Brassica. This is an unusually fleshy, opulent Sauvignon from Gaja. All the elements are very nicely balanced right now, which makes the 2011 a true pleasure to taste. I would prefer to drink the 2011 sooner rather than later, while the fleshy, ripe style is at its most expressive.

(100% sauvignon blanc; this is the only Gaja white wine that does not go through malolactic fermentation): Bright yellow. Aromas of pineapple candy and marzipan. Round, fine-grained and concentrated, with harmonious acidity giving good shape to its pineapple and fresh herb flavors. Really dusts the palate on the finish. No shortage of thrust in spite of the hot year.
The 2010 Alteni di Brassica is cool and steely in the glass, with gorgeous precision and nuance. Crushed rocks, mint and white stone fruits lift from the glass in a precise, chiseled Sauvignon long on class. This is a gorgeous showing. Drink: 2014 - 2018
