White peaches and smoky minerals can be detected in the 2001 Chevalier-Montrachet’s aromatic profile. Medium-bodied, it reveals a lovely satin-textured character filled with minerals, terrific depth of fruit, and a sensual mouth-feel. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2009. Full, nutty, almost more Bâtard than Chevalier but certainly winning in its nervous intensity. Very, very lively. (JR)
Musky, complex nose combines minerals, wet stone, ginger, grilled nuts and a hint of sulfides. Dense, concentrated and minerally but quite light on its feet. A very supple, smooth wine given shape and verve by its strong minerality. Rich and long on the back end.
