The 1997 Chevalier-Montrachet is refined, focused, and well balanced. Minerals, toast, and floral scents are followed by a rich, full-bodied, and detailed personality. Flavors reminiscent of sea shells, stones, grilled oak, and flint are found in this oily-textured, dense, and complex wine. While it reflects the vintage's richness, weight, and fat, it also offers delineation, precision, and is slightly less evolved. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2008. Louis Latour is represented by a different importer in each state.

The Latour family has been growing vines in Burgundy since at least 1731. Their négociant business – today one of the region’s biggest names – was founded in 1797. Still family-owned today, the company owns 48 hectares of vines, 27 of which are Grand Cru, as well as its own cooperage.
