White peaches and pears can be discerned in the nose of the 2001 Chevalier-Montrachet. This highly concentrated wine (though less so than the Criots) displays layers of minerals, gravel, and crisp pears. It has outstanding depth, balance, grip, and length. June 2003, Drink 2004-2014.
A hint of wood spice frames ultra refined, utterly captivating and completely seductive aromas of such purity and intensity that it is hard to believe. A nose of white flowers, limestone and dried herbs overlay astoundingly focused, linear, satiny, intense and detailed flavors underpinned by crystalline minerality and a pungent finish that goes on for minutes. Understated but stunning in every respect, I was knocked out by the unbelievable harmony and this gives the impression of having been cut from a block of limestone. A great Chevalier of mind-boggling depth. Jul 2003, Drink 2013-202+
