The flower and white-scented 1998 Chevalier-Montrachet was harvested at 13.5% natural potential alcohol. This medium-bodied wine is surprisingly intense, powerful, and concentrated, given the generally weak nature of the 1998 white Burgundies. Pure, intense aromas of citrus skin and liquid stone. Very densely packed but minerally, vibrant and quite fine. Shows the new oak more than the Meursaults. Then very subtle and very long, finishing more uncompromisingly dry than the foregoing '98s.
