The delightful 1987 Forts de Latour is, to my taste, a better wine than the 1988. The forward-yet-intriguing bouquet of walnuts, spicy oak, cedar, and herbs is followed by a surprisingly concentrated, generously fruity, medium- to full-bodied wine with excellent balance and depth. It is a top-notch success for the vintage. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 4/90.
