Heady, evolved with a dry finish, but something not as pure as the Sottimano wines… (JR)

La Morra. Deep ruby with orange tinges. Very ripe fruit strikes a good balance between solid grainy tannin and acidity. Needs more bottle age. (WS)
The 2008 Barolo Vigneto Rocche is as sumptuous and layered a wine as readers will find in this vintage. Today the Rocche is holding back much of its potential, but the pedigree is quite obvious. Silky tannins provide the backdrop for an expressive core of red fruit, flowers, spices, mint and roses in this beautifully delineated, classy Barolo. This is a fabulous showing from Andrea and Fabio Oberto.
