Pale yellow. Subtle, discreet nose hints at pineapple and spicy oak. Intensely flavored and gripping, with excellent balance thanks to lovely cut and acidity for the vintage. Seriously bracing premier cru with palate-staining persistence. Here there's some stoniness to go with the strong fruit. Made from parcels that are 15, 50 and 75 years of age, this wine wears its 13.7% alcohol gracefully.

Light honey and spice on the nose. Rich, creamy, mealy and some orange zest and lemon. Nicely balanced. Quite light in the middle but long. Mealy finish. A bit more advanced than I would have expected. (JH)
Cheesy nose but some good structure and excitement. Light, tart and lemony. Very lively and not ready (hooray!) (JR)
Complex nose melds lemon, orange, honey and a whiff of oak. Dense, spicy and tight, with nut oil and cinnamon elements currently dominating the wine's fruit. Seems rather youthfully imploded today but boasts plenty of stuffing and finishes long. This may well outlast the Vergers.
