Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2016-2021, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2017

The 1996 Barolo Brunate has aged gracefully, although it is fully mature, or close to it. Sweet tobacco, mint, leather, licorice, spice and dried herbs give the 1996 its exotic aromatics. The 1996 has enough depth and freshness to drink well for another few years, although I wouldn't push my luck too much further.

Punteggio 91-93/100 · Da bere 2003-2016, Robert Parker, Aug 1999

This wine exhibits a saturated ruby color with purple nuances. Additionally, it is rich, with lots of extract, tannin, and body. The 1996 Barolo Brunate's dark ruby color is followed by aromas of Chinese black tea, pepper, earth, and cherries. Ripe, full-bodied, and structured, with excellent depth, a sweet mid-palate, and a firm finish, this wine requires moderate patience. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2016. Medium red, with a faint orange tinge. Very subtle, reticent nose hints at nuts, menthol, truffle and mint. Quite dense and full, with excellent vinosity giving it insinuating cut and clarity. Complex, understated flavors nicely framed by ripe acids. Finishes quite subtle and long, with red berry fruit outlasting the building, well-buffered tannins. Still quite young, but a very good showing today.
