Note di degustazione
Mature and just mid ruby with brickstone rim. Mature, multilayered nose of dried fruit, tobacco leaf, hints of sweet mulch and the beginning of tar and leather. Wonderful impact of lightness on the palate with mature fruit notes on the palate and beautifully balanced. Long finish framed by powdery tannins. Textbook Barolo. (WS)

Marcarini's 2001 Barolo Brunate did not enjoy a great showing. Advanced aromatics and hard, angular contours are suprising for a ten year-old Marcarini Barolo. Hints of sweet pipe tobacco and leather add some complexity, but the wine never comes together in the glass.

The 2001 Barolo Brunate reveals a dense, dark, burnished ruby color with violet highlights. It offers an aromatic nose of minerals, eucalyptus and sage followed by a generous palate of ripe dark fruits. A wine of substantial length and elegance, it is more complete and age-worthy than the La Serra.
