The toasted mineral, almond, and smoke-scented 1999 Puligny-Montrachet Perrieres is medium-bodied, complex, round, and broad. Quince, nuts, and apricots can be discerned in its otherwise mineral-dominated personality. It is opulently textured and well-balanced. Drink it over the next 6-7 years. Reticent, complex aromas of quince, minerals, flowers and spices. Less evolved in the mouth, with lime and nut oil flavors enlivened by racy acids. This shows serious backbone and grip for the vintage, even a hint of youthful austerity. Quite long and fine.
