Terrific, explosive and highly expressive primary fruit nose offering lovely and elegant white flower aromas plus an intense minerality on the middle weight, gorgeously defined flavors of simply exqusite detail on the very long finish. If this can add a touch of depth and complexity over the next 5 to 7 years, my score will seem conservative indeed as there is plenty of material here. This is still very young and fresh though with the right food, this could be approached now. Still, it will be materially better with another few years in bottle.

Produced from 14 year old vines, the Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrieres has a liquid mineral-scented nose and a fresh, racy, feminine, and medium-bodied core of slate, floral, stone, and lemon-like flavors. It is well-balanced and delineated, and should be at its peak from 2000 to 2005. Gerard Boudot, this firm's director, bottled this wine between September and November, 1997. Toast, vanilla, minerals and citrus fruits on the ripe nose. Less forthcoming and a bit more angular in the mouth, not showing much fat today. Notes of grapefruit and lemon. Has an aggressive, young-vines character in the middle palate, but shows very good length.
