The 1996 Barolo Bricco Luciani is fully mature, but it should drink reasonably well for at least another few years, as it is a bit fresher on the palate than it is in its aromatics. Smoke, leather and licorice all develop in the glass. A streak of greenness suggests less than perfect cooperage.

Good ruby-red. Enticing aromas of raspberry, bitter chocolate and minerals. Thick, chewy and tactile; a very full-bodied Barolo that's packed with sweet fruit. Just a hint of rusticity on the finish, which features powerful tannins. This will need a good four or five years of bottle aging.
