Punteggio 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2004

Peachy fruit salad aromas along with nut oil, oak char and a metallic nuance on the nose. Broad and dry, with perfumed flavors of pineapple and peach. Rather refined wine, more aromatic in the mouth today than on the nose. This was kept in oak until February of 2004: Latour believes that Champs-Canet tends to open too quickly and he prefers to make a more reserved style.

Punteggio 90-92/100 · Da bere 2004-2010, Pierre Rovani, Feb 2004

Light to medium-bodied and sporting a nose of spicy candied apples, the 2002 Puligny-Montrachet Champs-Canet is a spicy, broad effort. Rich, lush, and filled with spiced white fruits, it is a candidate for drinking over the next 6 years. Jean-Pierre Latour defines the 2002 vintage for white Burgundies as “tenderness plus fruit, like 1992 but with the freshness of 1996.” He went on to add that he was “stupefied by the completeness of the 2002s. Analytically, they are like the 2000s, but tender, not square like the 2000s.” This estate began harvesting its wines on the 20th of September.
