The Chassagne-Montrachet-Premier Cru is superior. The honeyed bouquet is intense, as are the deep, chewy, highly concentrated flavors. This big, stylish white Burgundy is filled with aromas and flavors of hazelnuts, oranges, and apples. Unctuous and extremely rich with an explosive finish, it should drink well for 7-8 years. The exceptional high quality of the 1989 white Burgundies is further evidenced by the top notch offerings from Jean-Noel Gagnard. While many of the 1989 white Burgundies are strikingly opulent and forward, these wines have the structure to go along with the great stuffing they possess.
