Note di degustazione
Bright dark red. Pure but very subdued aromas of red berries and flowers, showing good life for the vintage. Tightly wound and youthful on entry, then shows more pliant, savory flavors of black cherry, menthol and flowers. Sweet but serious tannins reach the front teeth. Finishes broad and palate-dusting. Solidly structured to age.

2017-2027. All of the elements come together beautifully in the 2007 Barolo San Rocco, a wine that captures the essence of this great vintage as seen through the lens of one of Serralunga's top sites. A dark, sensual Barolo, the San Rocco offers up a compelling array of blueberries, blackberries, smoke, licorice, spices and menthol. The finish is round, enveloping and powerful. There is an element of mystery to the San Rocco that will be fascinating to follow in the coming years.

There is an element of mystery to the San Rocco that is particularly intriguing. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. This is a stunning set of wines from Azelia and proprietor Luigi Scavino. Unlike many of his colleagues, Scavino has opted to make his straight Barolo rather accessible, with no pretense of grandeur, creating a big difference between that wine and his single-vineyard offerings, which in this vintage are breathtakingly beautiful.
